This is a victory for everyone. We have built up a database for legal services. What list can your organization edit? Remember that anyone can be a victim of family violence, regardless of age, gender, economic status, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or education. Connecticut`s laws and legal options also apply to all victims of domestic violence. The law also applies to all victims, regardless of their immigration status. Most of our legal services are only available to individuals whose household income is at or below 125% of the federal poverty line. If you are 60 years of age or older and think your income is higher, you can contact the nearest legal aid office to find out if you are eligible for legal advice. We created the first list of legal services for inmates on the Internet. Can you create a similar list for another type of resource? If you need legal representation and have a very low income, you may qualify for one of Connecticut`s legal aid programs.
For more information, call: You can also visit the CTLawHelp.org Self-Help Library for information about your legal issues. Our method: Inspired by the Cincinnati Books for Prisoners group, we created a list of all legal aid organizations on each list of resources we could find. Then, every year, we send a letter in the mail to each organization asking them to confirm/update their list. If they respond, we will include them on the website for the next 365 days. All the organization has to do is sign the form we send them and return it in the enclosed envelope. If they don`t respond, we`ll keep them on our mailing list and try again next year. And if an organization doesn`t respond for any reason (staff turnover, mail problems, the dog ate our letter, etc.), they have another chance next year. If you have been hit or threatened, the laws of the State of Connecticut may provide you with special protection and services. Sometimes these laws are called domestic violence laws or domestic violence laws. These laws and services can help you even if you and the person who hurt you stay together. Try to get as much information as possible about all your options before making decisions about your relationship. If you think your partner won`t comply with the law or a court-issued injunction or protection order, you can call your local domestic violence agency (link to provider page) to find other ways to protect yourself.
