Notes: The 176 people reviewed in this article had filed and unsealed federal charges on January 31. Entry and disruption of Congress includes illegal entry, misconduct, and obstruction of official procedures. In total, this database contains the records of 408 people charged in connection with the violence on Capitol Hill. Of those, there are 337 federal cases and 27 cases before the DC Superior Court. Most federal charges relate to illegal entry and activities on lands designated by Capitol Hill.
Some federal charges include civil unrest, theft, assault (including assaulting a federal official), interstate threats, damage to government property, obstruction of law enforcement, and possession of firearms. Nearly all of the charges brought in Washington Superior Court include violating a citywide curfew on or around the Capitol on Jan. 6, as well as one count of possession of a prohibited weapon and one count of assaulting a police officer. On Jan. 13, the Justice Department released a database of “Capitol Violence Investigations,” which includes press releases, indictment documents, the status of the case, and the residence of each defendant. Agitation; attacking, resisting or obstructing certain officers with a dangerous weapon; Entering and lingering in a building or enclosure locked with a deadly or dangerous weapon; disorderly and disruptive behaviour in a building or complex locked with a deadly or dangerous weapon; engaging in physical violence in a building or complex locked with a deadly or dangerous weapon; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; An act of physical violence on the grounds or in the buildings of the Capitol. First indictment replaced filed 2/19. Second replacement indictment filed on 3/12.
Third substitute indictment filed 3/31. Fourth substitute indictment filed on 26/5. Fifth indictment replaced 8/4. More than 10 percent of those now facing federal charges have expressed allegiance or affinity to militant groups, according to court records or other documents such as video footage of group events. Some hold leadership roles, while others are described by prosecutors as wearing their group`s paraphernalia or discussing plans to travel with members to the Jan. 6 protests. Veterans and military personnel appear to have been overrepresented in the crowd that stormed the Capitol: Of the 176 people indicted in federal court, at least 22 claim some form of military experience. Professional and fast service, but above all they got an excellent result (out of court) for our mutual client. I highly recommend using Hale Legal in any commercial dispute. We also referred several other clients regarding wills, lease matters and non-contentious business transactions, and their feedback was also positive. Such advice and support, especially for our clients (usually people in the middle of family law/litigation) is invaluable. Thank you again and I look forward to working with your company again in the future.

Justin Dorney – Lawyers for the Holden Barlow Perth family. By Jennifer Valentino-DeVries, Grace Ashford, Denise Lu, Eleanor Lutz, Alex Leeds Matthews and Karen YourishFeb. 4, 2021. “You see people on the videos of the riots clearly using tactical training, and it`s relevant to some possible charges if you made a plan and treated it as a military operation,” said Emily Berman, a law professor at the University of Houston who focuses on national laws related to national security. “But I think it`s also potentially problematic if you have people charged with serving the country or enforcing the law who have those views and act accordingly.” Supporters of other groups, such as the Three Percenters, were also present on January 6, as were individuals who publicly allied themselves with white supremacist organizations such as the Patriot Front. While the vast majority of those who stormed the Capitol may not have promised to belong to such groups, some adopted related language and images by displaying a “white power” hand sign in photos or wearing clothing with combat insignia or mocking the Holocaust. Many thanks to Alan Skinner and the team at Hale Legal for their fantastic work in negotiating a brilliant outcome before the Supreme Court.
